Squarespace store audit: test a buyer's product-to-cart path
A Squarespace Commerce storefront can publish attractive product pages while a required option, add-to-cart action or internal link still interrupts the route toward checkout. A public test shows what the auditor can verify.
Inspect the actual product page
Squarespace stores can sell products with options such as size, colour or format. Those choices affect the item the buyer adds. A product appearing in a summary block does not show whether the correct option is selected on the product page.
SnafuFinder looks for a product, attempts supported option selection, tries add to cart and checks cart state. The report separates a missing or unusable option control from later cart or checkout-entry results. It doesn't certify that every product variation or every custom store extension has been exercised.
Follow the cart to checkout entry
Depending on the template and settings, shoppers may encounter a cart link, cart overlay or a dedicated checkout action. A storefront can link to checkout while failing to hold the product the shopper attempted to add. A useful result therefore depends on an observed cart action.
The browser journey verifies what it can about the tested cart contents and checks whether checkout entry is reached without completing payment. No customer details or payment method are submitted. The audit does not inspect Squarespace's private order settings or approve the payment provider's live status.
Mobile is a separate path to check
Product blocks, image galleries, option dropdowns and add-to-cart placement can change on smaller viewports. A phone user may scroll through long product details before finding the action they need. A control can be present on the page but behave differently under touch-sized layout rules.
SnafuFinder loads your storefront at desktop and mobile screen sizes, runs the product-to-cart journey, checks that the cart’s checkout button is visible and tappable on a phone-sized screen, and records the observed outcomes. It does not currently promise a pixel-by-pixel ranking of button prominence or measure every screen width. If the primary issue is visual placement rather than a failed interaction, review that design manually as well.
Navigation and footer links
When a Squarespace page is moved or removed, an old menu or footer link can continue to point at an error page. The store may have an active shipping page but still link to an earlier draft. Product and policy navigation are worth checking after page restructures.
The bounded internal-link scan looks at URLs discovered from the public storefront and reports failures or obvious placeholder destinations. It is not a full-site crawler. Where a footer contains a broken policy link, inspect both the destination and the actual policy-page visibility.
Policy pages before launch
Customers often use shipping and return information before deciding whether to continue to checkout. Squarespace allows you to publish content pages, but the site owner still controls the wording and links. A draft or a buried policy page may not be available at the public location the buyer expects.
The audit looks for accessible refund or returns, shipping, privacy and terms pages and a support contact path. It checks for certain explicit placeholder phrases. That doesn't replace checking legal requirements in the regions where you sell or verifying the policy correctly describes your operation.
Custom domains and store email
A Squarespace-hosted domain and a business's custom email domain don't necessarily share the same DNS records. Changing domain settings can affect site reachability, while SPF and DMARC govern aspects of email authentication. MX records tell other mail systems where incoming mail should go.
SnafuFinder inspects the public site's HTTPS and domain records, plus MX, SPF and DMARC where appropriate. On a shared squarespace.com hostname, public platform records don't verify the merchant's private sending setup. Check your own customer-facing email domain separately and send an independent test receipt if you want to confirm delivery.
